Structured Performance Evaluation – PESKY® Bug Away Spray

PESKY® Bug Away Spray has been evaluated through both structured laboratory testing and structured field-use observation.

The two evaluations measure different performance aspects and are presented separately below for clarity.

🧪 1️⃣ Controlled Laboratory Repellency Evaluation

Purpose

To measure repellency performance under controlled environmental conditions using standardized exposure methods.

Testing Overview

• Conducted in laboratory setting
• Controlled temperature and humidity
• Timed exposure intervals
• Measured landings and confirmed bites

Mosquito Evaluation (Arm-in-Cage Testing)

• Mean observed mosquito protection time: ~120 minutes
• >95% repellency observed for approximately 90 minutes
• Repellency gradually declined after 2 hours, consistent with botanical volatility

Tick Evaluation

• ~94% repellency at 1 hour
• ~88% repellency at 2 hours
• Effective avoidance behavior observed for approximately 2.5–3 hours

Ticks demonstrated consistent avoidance when encountering treated surfaces.

Biting Fly Evaluation

• ~98% repellency at 30 minutes
• ~94% at 60 minutes
• ~84% at 90 minutes
• ~73% at 120 minutes

Mean observed protection duration: ~90 minutes.

No-See-Um (Midge) Evaluation

• Up to 100% repellency immediately post-application
• 97% at 30 minutes
• 93% at 60 minutes
• 85% at 90 minutes
• 76% at 120 minutes

Botanical essential oils provide strong early-phase vapor repellency with gradual decline over time.

Important Notes – Laboratory Testing

• Results reflect controlled laboratory conditions
• Protection duration may vary based on environment, insect pressure, perspiration, and reapplication
• Data applies specifically to PESKY® Bug Away Spray when used as directed
• For use against nuisance insects only
• Not intended to prevent or treat insect-borne diseases
